CPR Condemns Mayor Adams for Collaboration with ICE
Today, in response to Mayor Eric Adams’ meeting with border czar Tom Homan, Communities United for Police Reform (CPR) released the following statement from CPR spokesperson, Natalia Aristizabal, Deputy Director of Make the Road New York.
“It has been two days since President Trump ordered the Department of Justice to drop corruption charges against NYC Mayor Eric Adams, and now the mayor is bargaining away the safety and well-being of all New Yorkers and the protections guaranteed to immigrant New Yorkers by our city laws. Following today’s meeting with Trump’s border czar, Tom Homan, Adams announced he would embed the NYPD into federal task forces, which is in direct violation of both our city’s laws and the mayor’s moral obligation to protect New Yorkers. The mayor’s quid pro quo with the Trump administration is incredibly dangerous for all New Yorkers. Our communities refuse to accept Mayor Adams teaming up with Trump to weaponize the NYPD, the DOC and other city agencies to push an inhumane agenda that would rather criminalize communities than provide care, services and protections. New York City deserves a mayor who will protect all New Yorkers – not one who inflicts terror and cruelty on families and children to protect his own political future.”
