Family Of Antonio Williams Demand That Mayor De Blasio And The NYPD Stop Hiding Critical Information And Fire Officers

Today, the family of Antonio Williams, the Justice Committee, and Communities United for Police Reform are demanding Mayor de Blasio and the NYPD fire the NYPD officers who killed Antonio Williams in 2019 and stop hiding critical information related to the killing. Lawyers for the Williams family filed a brief yesterday opposing the City’s and the NYPD’s baseless attempts to keep critical information about the NYPD killing of Antonio Williams hidden.

CCRB Opens Investigation Into 2019 NYPD Killing Of Antonio Williams, Family Demands Firings Of Officers

The family of Antonio Williams, the Justice Committee, and Communities United for Police Reform met with the Civilian Complaint Review Board (CCRB) to discuss the investigations into NYPD officers, Sgt. Jason Valentino, Det. Daniel Beddows, and Officers Brian Mahon, Keith Figueroa and Robert Wichers, who killed Mr. Williams nearly 2 years ago in the Bronx.

Gwen Carr And Organizers File Lawsuits Against NYPD And CCRB To Obtain Full Foil Disclosures Related To Eric Garner’s Killing

This week, lawyers for Gwen Carr, mother of Eric Garner, Communities United for Police Reform (CPR), and the Justice Committee filed Article 78 lawsuits against the NYPD and the CCRB to obtain full disclosure of records in response to an August 2019 FOIL request sent to both agencies, including materials related to the NYPD’s and other City agencies’ actions to investigate and discipline officers responsible for Eric Garner’s killing.

Today, following a public court conference in the historic judicial inquiry into the NYPD killing of Eric Garner and subsequent cover-up, Gwen Carr, mother of Eric Garner, Communities United for Police Reform, the Justice Committee, and other petitioners in the case are calling on Mayor de Blasio to fire all the NYPD officers responsible and stop hiding critical information ordered in the judicial inquiry.

CCRB Files Charges Against NYPD Officers Brendan Thompson and Herbert Davis, Family of Kawaski Trawick and Organizers Demand Firings

Today, the family of Kawaski Trawick, Communities United for Police Reform, and the Justice Committee are demanding that the NYPD, Mayor de Blasio, and Commissioner Shea immediately serve charges on NYPD Officers Brendan Thompson and Herbert Davis and schedule their disciplinary trial related to the killing of Kawaski Trawick, following the CCRB’s formal filing of charges against the officers with the NYPD.

Stop-and-Frisk Plaintiffs Ask Court to Make Changes to Monitorship to Include Community

Court Monitor Cannot Accurately Assess NYPD Policy Changes Without Hearing from Impacted People

Community organizations, attorneys behind the class-action lawsuits that challenged the New York City Police Department (NYPD)’s stop-and-frisk and trespass-enforcement practices, and elected officials rallied at One Police Plaza to demand an end to the NYPD’s unconstitutional stop-and-frisk abuses. Lawyers for the plaintiffs in the class-action lawsuit that challenged the NYPD’s racially discriminatory and unconstitutional practices filed a motion asking the court to amend its 2013 remedial order to ensure meaningful oversight in the remedial process going forward from people who are being policed.

NYS Supreme Court Justice Erika M. Edwards issued an order for discovery in the historic judicial inquiry into Eric Garner’s killing. The judicial inquiry will investigate the violations and neglect of duties by Mayor de Blasio and other City officials regarding the killing of Mr. Garner, their failure to conduct thorough investigations and discipline all NYPD officers responsible for misconduct, and the related cover-up.
