Colin Kaepernick rolled out plans for his million-dollar giveaway Friday afternoon.

On the website Kaepernick7.com, the 49ers’ quarterback detailed how the first $200,000 is being allotted. He will donate $100,000 per month for 10 months — $25,000 each to 40 charities or organizations.

The four October recipients of the $25,000 donations were Silicon Valley De-Bug (San Jose), Causa Justa (San Jose), Urban Underground (Milwaukee) and Mothers Against Police Brutality (Dallas).
November recipients are the Black Youth Project (Chicago), the Gathering For Justice (New York), Communities United For Police Reform (New York) and I Will Not Die Young Campaign (Milwaukee).

The site further breaks down each $25,000 grant and allows followers to track spending. For example, of the funds earmarked for Silicon Valley De-Bug, a “media, community organizing, and entrepreneurial collective,” $10,000 will go toward a healing and strategic planning retreat for families who have lost loved ones to police violence.

According to the site, “The mission of the Colin Kaepernick Foundation is to fight opression of all kinds globally, through education and social action.”

When Kaepernick began his kneel-down protest of the national anthem before 49ers’ games, he responded to early criticism by pledging to donate $1 million to charities that tackle social issues and racial injustice.

Kaepernick promised to post all details on a website, “so everyone will be able to see exactly what organizations the money’s going to, and also making sure we get an itemized list from the organizations of what they’re spending the money on. To make sure not only that I’m transparent in what I’m doing, but that these organizations are transparent with where the money is going as well.”

Kaepernick will start at quarterback for the 49ers on Sunday, at home against the New England Patriots. It will be the fifth game since he regained his starting job from Blaine Gabbert.
