Statement: Family of Delrawn Small Demand Firing of NYPD Officer Wayne Isaacs After Judge Denies Officers’ Attempt to Block Investigation

A New York State Supreme Court Judge Verna L. Saunders dismissed NYPD Officer Wayne’s Isaacs’ baseless attempt to block his long-delayed discipline trial for killing Delrawn Small. Isaacs, who shot and killed Delrawn Small in front of his 4-month-old baby, teen stepdaughter, and girlfriend on July 4, 2016, filed an Article 78 lawsuit in March 2021 to try to prevent the CCRB from moving forward in a disciplinary prosecution.

Statement: Family and Activists Respond to NYPD Officers’ Baseless Legal Attempt to Block CCRB Prosecution in the Killing of Delrawn Small

Wayne Isaacs, the NYPD officer who killed Delrawn Small in 2016, is suing to prevent the Civilian Complaint Review Board (CCRB) from prosecuting his case. Isaacs filed an Article 78 petition, attempting to stop any further investigation into his misconduct related to the killing of Delrawn Small.

Yesterday, the Civilian Complaint Review Board (CCRB) substantiated the excessive-force complaint against Officer Wayne Isaacs in the July 2016 killing of Brooklyn father Delrawn Small. In response, Communities United for Police Reform and the Justice Committee, along with the siblings of Small, Victoria Davis, and Victor Dempsey, are calling for the immediate firing of Isaacs.
