Endorse the Right To Know Act

By completing the form below, you are expressing your organization's endorsement of the Right To Know Act — legislation awaiting a vote in the New York City Council that would help prevent abuses and bring accountability to New Yorkers' most common encounters with the NYPD.  The Right To Know Act policies have been endorsed by President Obama's Task Force on 21st Century Policing and the New York City Council's Young Women's Initiative, and many of the families of New Yorkers killed by NYPD have joined 200+ organizations and thousands of New Yorkers to demand City Council passage of the Right To Know Act.

The Right To Know Act includes the following City Council bills:

  • Intro 182 — Requires NYPD officers to identify themselves to the pulblic and explain the reason for the interaction
  • Intro 541 — Protects New Yorkers against unconstitutional searches

Visit www.changethenypd.org/RightToKnowAct for a detailed description of these bills.
