Police Reform Campaign Responds to Quinnipiac Poll on NYC Police

In response to today's Quinnipiac poll on policing in New York City, Communities United for Police Reform released the following statement from spokesperson Priscilla Gonzalez:

"Support for police to conduct law enforcement activity for minor offenses doesn't translate to support for 'broken windows policing.' All New Yorkers want a high quality of life, but they don't want low-level infractions enforced differently based on their race or where they live. Discriminatory, abusive enforcement is the fundamental problem, which both this poll and the NYPD have failed to acknowledge or address.  The same systemic problems within the police department that are responsible for this discriminatory policing perpetuate the brutality directed at peaceful protesters opposed to unjust police violence. Mayor de Blasio and Police Commissioner need to fix the systemic cultural issues and lack of accountability within the department."
