WEBINAR: Breaking Bread with Communities United for Police Reform

Join us for the virtual edition of Mayday Space's Breaking Bread series, which aims to bring together members of grassroots groups and the politically-engaged public to sharpen strategies, celebrate wins, and strengthen movements for transformative change.

HOW THE BREAKING BREAD SERIES WORKS:

During each gathering, the partner group has 30 minutes to present their victories, challenges, and lessons learned with those assembled. This is a chance to create connections between issues, and for organizations to solicit volunteers, donors or campaign advice (if desired) in whatever format they choose. The Mayday crew then helps facilitate small group conversations on movement strategy. Usually this is done over a prepared free meal at our space, but this time we’ll be using breakout rooms in Zoom where participants can share opportunities to engage meaningfully in efforts to end policing as we know it.

RSVP: Please use the WithFriends link to secure your seat at the virtual table: http://tinyurl.com/CPRandMayday

WEBINAR: Texting Tuesday with VOCAL-NY + People's Action - Defund Police, Invest in Communities!

Want to take action to defund police and reinvest into communities? Join the text-bank this Tuesday to support CPR member VOCAL-NY's campaign to defund law enforcement and direct billions of dollars to critical New York needs like housing and healthcare. Police violence has plagued protests from Buffalo to Brooklyn, injuring and incarcerating thousands. Sadly, this is nothing new for communities of color. To care for all New Yorkers, we must dramatically decrease police budgets and reinvest that money into critical community needs like ending homelessness and providing services and care to people in need.

Join the Text-Bank, also supported by People's Action Institute, to reach out to tens of thousands of people and move them to take action. VOCAL-NY will train together and then text-bank side by side over Zoom to the tunes providing by an amazing DJ!

WEBINAR: Know Your Rights With NYPD During COVID-19

On Wed. June 3rd, CPR members Audre Lorde Project and the New York City Anti-Violence Project host a #KnowYourRights w/ NYPD During #COVID-19 workshop.

While New York deals with the COVID-19 pandemic, New Yorkers still have rights when it comes to interactions with police officers. As things continue to change, including city & state orders and enforcement around social distancing, it is more important than ever for all of us to stay updated on our rights and learn how to exercise them as safely as possible, recognize when they have been violated, and know what to do about it. Space is limited.

Register to learn what your rights are: https://alp.org/events/know-your-right-police-during-covid
